This terrified Lindsay, but apparently toddlers have no problem with it. Scheduled to close soon, so catch it while you can (or, like Lindsay, be thankful it’s closing).
Pandora – The World of Avatar
Na’vi River Journey
A slow, dark boat ride through the forests of Pandora. Even if you didn’t see the movie Avatar, this is a fun ride. Not even remotely fast or scary. Any height. Cool audio animatronic shaman at the end. But not worth more than a 15 minute wait.
Avatar Flight of Passage
A virtual ride that takes you on the back of a banshee and you fly around Pandora. Lindsay and Gary say it’s good. If you can’t do virtual rides, skip this.
Africa
Kilimanjaro Safaris
A safari truck takes you out onto the savannah to see lots of real animals. This is what Animal Kingdom is really all about. We LOVE this.
Festival of the Lion King
This 40-minute stage show brings the music, the energy, and spectacle of the Broadway show. This is one show where Genie+ is recommended.
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail
Don’t be fooled by the thrill rides and Mr. Kamal’s fries — Animal Kingdom is a “zoological theme park.” This trail, along with Maharajah Jungle Trek, is where you will see animals and learn about Disney’s conservation efforts.
Wildlife Express Train
The Wildlife Express Train will take you on a 7-minute journey, where you will get a close-up look at some of the inner workings of the park on your way to Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
Affection Section
YOU CAN PET GOATS. Full stop.
The Animation Experience at Conservation Station
Follow along as a Disney animator walks you step-by-step through the creation of a Disney character. And realize you need to keep your day job.
Conservation Station
See wild animals be nervous at the vet, just like your pet!
Asia
Kali River Rapids
This is a big, round boat that takes you down a river and pretty much guarantees you’ll get drenched. If you like walking around with a soaking wet bottom, this ride is for you.
Expedition Everest
Arguably the best basic coaster in Disney World. Fast, fun, not for the faint of heart. Our favorite!
Maharajah Jungle Trek
Don’t be fooled by the thrill rides and Mr. Kamal’s fries — Animal Kingdom is a “zoological theme park.” This trail, along with Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, is where you will see animals and learn about Disney’s conservation efforts.
Feathered Friends in Flight!
This is a show about birds. However, pro tip: if Suzanne Pleshette sits down next to you, and you see Tippi Hedren in the distance, you should probably leave.
Dinoland USA
DINOSAUR
This is a dark ride that takes you back through time to find a big lizard of some sort. Bumpy but fun.
Triceratop Spin
Apparently, every park needs a Dumbo. This is one of them.
Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
This is a stage show about a movie that takes place under water. Suspend THAT disbelief!
